This pop-up session is a unique blend of community, holding space, and exploring movement.
We'll start with a community check-in and share insights and strategies for staying connected to and nourished by your practice in difficult times. Then, we'll weave together an Awareness Through Movement lesson that transitions from lying on the belly to sitting upright with suggestions on how to use the movements to process the intensity of this last week, month, and year. I guarantee you'll feel a shift.
- CONNECT: We'll take some time at the beginning to check in and connect as we each share a word or two about what we need right now and what we want for the future.
- COLLABORATE: We'll share our insights and strategies for staying connected to and nourished by your practice in difficult times. Hopefully, this will create a rich resource for how we can each nourish ourselves today and in the future.
- SOUND: We'll utilize the power of sounding to free the breath and ready us for movement.
- MOVE: We'll explore a rolling Awareness Through Movement lesson to help you tap into a sense of support, release any residue of elevated stress or heavy emotion, and shift you toward feeling centered and energized.
- JOURNAL: Your subconscious will continue to flow after the movement and breathwork. You'll want to give it a place to flow. Writing is a powerful way to tap into the flow. But you could also do it through art or voice journaling (recording). Choose a medium that feels right for you.
- NOTE: To keep a safe container, I'm closing class registration one minute before the start time and closing the doors five minutes after the start time.
- The edited recording will be released for a replay within 24 hours after the class ends.
- A place to move. These practices will be done lying down. You'll need enough space where you can lay with your legs long. The floor is a great place for those who can easily get up and down to the floor and who are comfortable lying on a firm surface. However, you can also do this in bed.
- Journal: A place to write, paint, or speak your thoughts. A written journal is a great place to begin. But you can also record yourself speaking or take some time to add to your art journal.
- Pillows and blankets (optional). You may want a small pillow or folded towel beneath your head.
This Session is a pay-from-the-heart class. If you are not a member, you can make minimal contributions or pay what feels aligned in your heart.
- Cultivating gratitude and generosity. Dāna is the practice of mutually dependent arising—understanding that everything is contingent upon everything else. It’s knowing that true well-being arises in every interaction we have with ourselves, each other, and the world.
- The practice of no separation. The practice of receiving Dāna is just as rewarding as the practice of offering it — no separation between my practice and the practice of others. It can deepen our (yours and mine) experience of trust, goodwill, gratitude, and community.
- Giving back. I wanted to find a way to support those who wouldn't otherwise be able to work with me without one of us compromising our financial well-being.
- This class is not advised for women who are pregnant, those recovering from an injury, or those with chronic pain who are not familiar with the Feldenkrais Method.
