This class is half yin and half yoga nidra – the ultimate REST & RESET combo. Yin promotes an awareness of inner workings through stillness, breath and giving the body time to sink deeper into each posture. The Yin practice allows for more focus on the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia and ligaments—with an aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.
Yoga nidra is a systematic method of profound relaxation which holistically addresses physiological, neurological, and subconscious needs. Though yoga nidra translates into “yogic sleep”, it is actually a space between wakefulness and sleep. It is a form of deep meditation. Yoga nidra creates a period of true restfulness: free of mental, physical and emotional tension.
If you are streaming this class at home, you need a peaceful spot. I highly recommend a bolster (or several!) but if you don't have one, a nice big & firm pillow will work. Yoga blocks and a yoga strap are also nice to have. A blanket adds to the coziness as well!
